The Rack: 33 pieces, total
Eight anchors with full ledgers, twenty-five supports with jobs to do. Count underwear and socks as sets; a capsule you cannot count is a wardrobe with good PR.

The rules of the rack
One in, one out. A new piece takes a numbered slot or it does not come home. Repair before replace: a resole, a re-heel, a button, a darn — each is a ledger entry that beats a purchase. Seasonal swap, not seasonal shop: the trench and flannel rotate into storage; nothing new arrives with the weather. The 30-day rail: anything not worn in 30 days in its season is interrogated at the next count.
